GANDULES’13 – Open air cinema for free from 6th to 22nd August at CCCB

30 Jul

open aire cinema barcelona

Gandules 13

Another year, the CCCB open its doors for free to the public to offer a selection of short and long optimistic movies.

The selected films have all been released and received prizes and mentions at different festivals, but for various reasons they made only a brief appearance on the commercial cinema circuit. Plus, a short will be shown before each film, as an appetizer: short films that speak to us of everyday events, like getting up in the morning, going to a restaurant for lunch or waiting at the bus stop; routine moments narrated in a surprising way and with lots—and we mean lots!—of humour.

The seats are limited, so it´s convenient to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start.

Yesterday began Mecal, the International Short Film Festival of Barcelona and runs until 26th April 26 at different locations of the city. This year, the festival has chosen Finland as the guest.

The first program will be focused to the ELO Helsinki Film School of the Aalto University, one of the most prestigious film schools in the country. The sections in comptetition will be:

INTERNATIONAL. A selection of the best international fiction films. The section comprises 6 sessions offering an overview of the rich variety of storylines and aesthetics the short film world has to offer. The International Jury will award the Great Award for the Best International Short Film.

OBLIQUE. The 4 sessions making up this section showcase the most daring and creative shorts, from both a narrative and formal viewpoint. Two juries will choose the best from among the 26 shorts: the Oblique Jury, who will present the Filmin Award, and the Youth Jury.

DOCUMENTARY. Mecal Pro has always been committed to short film documentaries, a genre currently enjoying an international boom. This year we will have 4 sessions with the best international short film documentaries. The audience will have the final say in deciding who wins the Best Short Film Documentary Award.
