10 reasons to visit Barcelona in autumn and winter

11 Nov

Barcelona

Barcelona

1. Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate and dry seasons during the autumn and winter period. Barcelona is a coastal city, that´s why it does not snow and the temperatures are quite mild: in the coldest month, January, it does not drop below 10 degrees Celsius (50F). The chances of precipitation are greater than during the summer, but still scarce. You can go around with a sweater and a jacket without having to be wrapped in thousands of layers of clothes or with an umbrella in the bag.

2. Visiting museums and art centres during the autumn-winter is a treat, because the volume of people is much lower than in spring or summer. Of course if you plan to visit any of the Gaudi buildings, either Sagrada Familia or La Pedrera, the Parc Güell or Casa Batlló, you should buy your tickets online to avoid queuing, that does not change throughout the year.

3. Did we mention that it hardly rains and it does not snow? 😉 The terraces and beach walks are still desirable in autumn and winter.

4. The price of accommodation in Barcelona between the months of November and January is much cheaper than from March to October. Find our great deals!

5. You will not need to check the fashion magazines to see what the latest trends are, as Barcelona is a showcase of modern fashion itself. You can go shopping in the elegant Paseo de Gracia, the Portal del Angel, to Girona street outlets or any of the shopping centres located throughout the city.

Parc de Collserola

6. Temperatures during these months are ideal for hiking trails in the natural park of Collserola. This is one of the largest parks in the world and has lots of archaeological sites (especially Iberian villages like La Peña del Moro at the border point between the towns of Sant Just Desvern, Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Esplugues de Llobregat) . To get there you can go by train from Plaza Catalunya with the S1.

7. January the 7th is the beginning of the sales period! Bring empty suitcases, here you can fill them with clothes.

8. Barcelona in autumn and winter is full of events, concerts and exhibitions. From October to January there are events such as the Festival In-Edit, the Voll Damm Jazz Festival, the World Press Photo, and different markets like Smart City Expo, BcnRail, Living Expominer, Auto Retro, Children’s Festival or EXPOHOGAR.

9. Barcelona is the city of architecture and design, modernism and culture, with many art centres, galleries and buildings that take your breath away. Autumn and winter are great seasons to visit them all, without the competition from the summer sun.

10. If you are someone who does not want to follow timetables on holidays in Barcelona there will be no problem. You can eat almost any time of the day what you want, from the most sophisticated tapas to seafood paella on Passeig Joan de Borbón. Menus are very economical and of good quality throughout the centre. During the winter you will have less competition to find a table, but you will be surprised to see that the city centre is always full of atmosphere.

Do you want to know where to go to take the vermouth in Gracia? At Sol Soler!

Sol Soler, Gracia

Sol Soler

Last week we went for a walk to the neighborhood of Gracia. We stopped by theSol Soler, a restaurant located in a corner of Plaza del Sol, to drink avermouth and eat some tapas.

Sol Soler, menu

We were three people and asked for: a piece vegetable lasagna (the best I’ve ever tasted), spinach pie, one peppers “del padron”, brave potatoes and caramelized chicken wings. Everything was great, the portions were generous and we paid less than 30 € for food and drinks, isn´t it wonderfull?

The decor is pretty retro and nice. The room has natural light because it has windows on two sides. There is also a terrace very well attended in the square.
So if you go to Gracia and do not know where to go to eat we totally recommend you Sol Soler

Do you want to eat some good “Tapas”? Go to Paco Meralgo

1 Apr

If you come to Barcelona and you are looking forward to eating well, we recomend you Alta Taberna Paco Meralgo, where they do real good tapas. The elaboration is simple, but the flavor is excellent.

The menu is priced from 2 to 10€ of half or entire portions and individual items. If you don´t drink too much wine, the price per person could be around 20€.

The decoration is minimalist, warm and casual. The service is not bad at all, but when the restaurant is crowded… mmmm 🙂

Address: Muntaner 171 (cuts with Córsega St)

We deeply recommend to all our customers the Paco Meralgo, because the quality is very good.
